To begin this unit, I want you to think about two groups of questions:
First, what do you think were the first discoveries in math? What numbers do you think they discovered first? What are the simplest parts of math you can think of?
Second, what did they use math for? These civilizations were very old. Perhaps they were hunter-gatherer societies, living in small groups and roaming the land hunting and gathering. Or perhaps they were early farmers, growing things like wheat and corn to feed themselves. How could they have benefitted from understanding math?
This response will be reviewed and graded after submission.
